Youth Jobs & Leadership Training

The Youth Leadership Program offers paid summer jobs and leadership workshops to youth ages 14 to 22 years old. We host two (2) groups who will be trained in a diverse number of life changing experiences. Our program employs youth for 15 to 20 hours per week during a six (6) -week period in July and August for a total of 120 hours of summer activities. Lawrence Sports Leadership Academy

Beyond Soccer, in collaboration with Everyone’s A Player and the Lawrence High School Athletic Department offers a two (2)-week camp at the high school campus for rising 8th-12th grade students. Participants benefit from five (5) different sports (tennis, soccer, basketball, volleyball and field hockey), plus speed and agility, nutrition education, leadership development, team-building components and a motivational speaker’s series (Dates: 7/31/17 - 8/3/17 & 8/7/17 - 8/10/17). Creative. Community. Change. (C3)

Elevated Thought is an art and social justice based organization that serves, inspires and develops communities through youth empowerment curricula and city beautification projects. C3 encourages students to examine societal issues and explore new ideas through discussion and debate, poetry, and various visual art mediums - developing a stronger sense of self and creative solutions for social issues in the process. Lawrence Youth Council

The Lawrence Youth Council (LYC) was created under the City of Lawrence Mayor’s Health Task Force (MHTF) with awareness-raising and activism as some of its core elements, carried out through the lens of social justice and health equity, in line with the MHTF. LYC members are charged with representing youth in the city of Lawrence, creating opportunities to give youth a voice, advocating for issues important to youth, and organizing and developing youth-related projects, programs, events and activities. Through a contract with the city, Elevated Thought has coordinated the LYC for the past three years.

Essex Art Center Summer Program

Green Team

The Groundwork Lawrence Green Team is a year-round program that offers part-time, paid positions for 50 Lawrence high school aged students each year to help learn about and lead local environmental and healthy community initiatives, grow food, conduct research, raise awareness, challenge their peers to do community service, and participate in hands-on improvement projects throughout the City of Lawrence.
