ACT Lawrence operates a wide array of services and programs through our Financial Capability and Opportunity Center. The purpose is to help empower and impact low to moderate-income families in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Interns have different roles depending on their skills set and will likely support one of the staff to analyze data, general clerical support and event planning and organizing. Assistant Directors, Choreographers, Summer Theater Counselors, Set Design, Technical Assistance, and Musicians

We encourage high school and college students to assist in directing performances, teach choreography, lead younger children in our summer theater programs, and assist with vocal instruction. We pull together musicians at least six (6) times a year to play for our shows! Volunteers can be paid for their internship once they have some volunteer time invested. Junior Coach-Mentors (Internship)

These students work as Junior Coach-Mentors, organizing our summer camps and instructing mostly first time elementary school-aged players and campers. Junior Coach-Mentors also get trained in positive, sports-based youth development. Some internship opportunities are paid and some are volunteer work; it is based on age and years within the program. Intern

Elevated Intern will provide aid in our youth empowerment programs and / or support Executive Director with various administrative duties. Samaritans of the Merrimack Valley

Family Services’ Samaritans of Merrimack Valley strives to reduce the incidence of suicide in the Merrimack Valley and throughout Massachusetts by providing “befriending” to individuals who are lonely, depressed and contemplating suicide or self-injury. Suicide prevention is one of the primary goals of the Samaritans, although services also include postvention services, trainings and seminars, and support groups.

Volunteer at Restore

The ReStore is a retail / warehouse where we sell gently used appliances, furniture, etc.

The ReStore work is anything that will make the ReStore a more pleasant shopping experience – be it organizing the houseware department, assisting customers, accepting donations etc.

Volunteers between the age of 16-18 are welcome. No one under the age of 16 unless they are with a group and with prior arrangement.We require a minimum of a 2 hour shift – you can stay 2 hours or the whole day. The maximum group size is 8 volunteers. The ReStore is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10AM-5PM.

Volunteer for Resume Help

Looking for volunteers to help with Resume Hours. Resume Hours are on Tuesday mornings (10am-12pm) at the Lawrence Public Library (main branch at 51 Lawrence Street) that are walk-in, free, one-on-one and bilingual. Looking for volunteers who can help start and edit resumes.
