Adult Family Care

CLASS's Adult Family Care program supports caregivers, both family and nonbiological matches, who wish to provide for elders and adults with disabilities in their home setting. Care managers tailor the program to meet each family's needs. Qualified caregivers receive a tax-exempt monthly stipend through MassHealth based on the level of care the individual requires.

Successful Transition and Responsive Support

STARS is a fully funded day habilitation program at CLASS serving young adults with autism. Adults with autism receive support to encourage personal growth in their areas of choice. They become more engaged in identified areas of interest through a holistic and strengths-based approach. Through specialized, person-centered, and evidence-based services, CLASS assists individuals to meet their goals. Individuals are supported through funding from the Department of Developmental Services.

Youth Empowerment Programming

Our Elevated Thought youth programming encourages students to examine societal issues, specifically the ones they see in and around their community, and pushes them to explore new ideas and creative solutions to social issues through discussion and debate, poetry, and various visual art mediums. History, philosophy, critical thinking, collaboration, public outreach, and organizing are all elements of the program. We believe that exposure and access to this type of learning can empower our students to lead and organize for systematic equality in education, their cities, and beyond. Limited seats available.

Lawrence Youth Council

The Lawrence Youth Council (LYC) was created under the City of Lawrence Mayor’s Health Task Force (MHTF) with awareness-raising and activism as some of its core elements, carried out through the lens of social justice and health equity, in line with the MHTF. LYC members are charged with representing youth in the city of Lawrence, creating opportunities to give youth a voice, advocating for issues important to youth, and organizing and developing youth-related projects, programs, events and activities. Through a contract with the city, Elevated Thought has coordinated the LYC for the past three years.

Temporary Financial Assistance for Young Adults Facing Housing Instability

North Shore Housing Action Group (NSHAG) is a regional consortium of providers, in coordination with the Lynn and North Shore Continua of Care (Coc), focused on ending homelessness.

The North Shore Housing Action Group (N.S.H.A.G) is a assistance program that specifically focuses on 18-24 year old individuals who are experiencing housing instability and/or homelessness in Essex County.

Eligible participants are able to receive temporary financial assistance and case management services. Regularly scheduled workshops and community meetings are held throughout the region.

In partnership with the United Way, agencies and service providers are able to apply for mini-grants to assist in their efforts working with this population.

Temporary financial assistance can help with:

  • Rent arrears
  • Start-up costs
  • Rent stipends
  • Utility arrears
  • Moving expenses
  • Basic furniture
  • Transportation expenses
  • Childcare expenses
  • Education expenses
  • And more…

The case management services provide support to Youth and Young Adults with:

  • Housing stability
  • Employment
  • Education
  • Financial literacy
  • Health/wellbeing

Counseling Services

We offer free and confidential counseling services to survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence. We work with children, youth, adults and their loved ones by providing crisis intervention and psychoeducational sessions. We also offer a 24 hour hotline, support groups, accompaniment to the hospital, police stations and/or court. Additionally we impart educational trainings/workshops and make referrals.
